Network Analysis Tool - How to Use WireShark

Type : Tutorial
Labels : Network
Level : Easy

In my last Data Communication and Computer Network class, We learn about Network Analysis Tools, Application Layer Protocol and Transport Layer Protocol. My teacher told us to download the newest edition from WireShark and FileZilla. Wow, are we going to hack something?
/XD

And then, yeah, I don't hack anything, because we just want to analyse our network. We learn how to analyse network with WireShark.

What is WireShark?
Wireshark is the world's foremost network protocol analyzer. It lets you capture and interactively browse the traffic running on a computer network. It is the de facto (and often de jure) standard across many industries and educational institutions. -wireshark.org
Where I can download WireShark?

You can download the lastest WireShark at http://www.wireshark.org/download.html, and I hope you know a little how to capture packet with WireShark. If you don't, you can read here. http://wiki.wireshark.org/

How to analyse packet with WireShark?

First, I ping to my FTP Server ( my Teacher PC ), and in WireShark, we can see that my Laptop send PING Request to my Teacher PC.

Second, I open my Google Chrome and browse to www.google.com, and this picture show that my Laptop send HTTP packet to Proxy 192.168.1.200

Third, I open my FileZilla, and try to connect to the web server.

Then my WireShark show that i send FTP packet to the web server.

I try to open directory, and this my WireShark screenshot.

And this screenshot, when i try to download file from the web server.
